Industrial Revolution; Turning Point In History
The Industrial Revolution had a major, and lasting affect on our world. We the people have benefited from it in many ways. The Industrial revolution has shaped the way we live today in many more ways than you can imagine, yet it happened so long ago. The revolution began in the United Kingdom, then spread throughout Western Europe, North America, Japan, and eventually the rest of the world. For this same very reason we now have fuel efficient cars, mobile telephones, subway systems, and many more things we don't normally realize. The Industrial revolution has also affected the way us humans live and act. Even if we don't remember the event it has surely impacted us in many ways like in our societies and in our self being.
Before the Industrial Revolution began we were living in a time where things were hand made. Where we needed to pick the materials to make things ourselves. The people of that era lived in small towns where agriculture was very common and popular. It was a the source for money and also the source for food. People made and sold goods that were grown or made, slowly and carefully. All was well, but there was a need for improvement. We needed easier ways to transport materials, and we also had a need for cheaper and faster production. This is why we were in need of growth in the industrial industry.
Making things by hand and getting the materials yourself were time consuming. It took away time from actually making the product, and so it restricted you from making more quantities. Which meant you were going to make less money. The creation of the assembly line was a major event in the Industrial Revolution. The assembly line took away a lot of hard work and time that it usually took to make things. People were able to finish things faster than ever, so that they had more product to sell to many customers. Also the way transportation was back then made it hard to get from point A to point B. If you needed to cross water you needed to travel days at sea. So the creation of the steamboat eliminated a lot of time as well. All these things sparked up the beginning of the revolution.
Many brilliant minds contributed to the start and growth of the Industrial Revolution, some more famous than others. Two of the more famous people were Richard Trevithick and Henry Ford. These two men created inventions that influenced many things that we have in our modern day today. Henry Ford was the man who created the assembly line. This invention is still even used today. The assembly line is used to make manufacturing products all around the world. It has opened many job fields and it has also made things easier, cheaper, and faster to make. The assembly line is arguably one of the most important tools that we use today. Richard Trevithick, like Henry Ford also invented something very important to history. He invented the steamboat. Now this isn't something that we use as often as we do an assembly line, but it still had a major significance. In the 1700s to 1800s we didn't have a fast way to travel across water. This steamboat was a way for people to travel immensely faster over water. This invention although not common impacted our world because it was the start of our travel on water and it influenced the boats we have today.
The Industrial Revolution also impacted our communities then and now. During the revolution many factories began to open together to make manufacturing easier. People started to migrate to these locations in search for jobs. Since so many people were constantly in these locations, they started to build houses and even business around the factories. These places became know as cities like we call them today. Many major cities began to form like this. Cities like Chicago, New York, Dallas and many more. These major cities not only unites us as a community but it also opened up many opportunities in job fields. Jobs on the assembly line became popular and also jobs in the surrounding businesses around the city. This is how most of us live today. If it weren't for the industrial growth we would not be living like we do today, and we would be working on farms.
Believe it or not the Industrial Revolution impacted our development as people, our safety, and even our social lives. Many things that we have today like Apple, and Microsoft products. These things have impacted the way we communicate and sometimes the way we live. Not just here in America but also in other parts of the world. Not only did the Industrial Revolution impact our social life but also our safety. Many advancements like street signs, airbags, and OnStar have yet kept us safe mentally and physically. The growth of all this technology has made us as humans smart but also dumb. With things like Google we sometimes rely on it for all the answers rather than experiencing it in reality. Our advancement in industry has made us who we are now. We the people of the world have become more productive and stronger as a whole because of it. Thanks to the Industrial revolution we are able to have knowledge, jobs and wonderful experiences.
The Industrial Revolution although overlooked and lost in past was an important part in history. Without it we wouldn't be what, and who we are today. It has impacted so much of our modern day because we are living in such a technology filled world. So much so that this paper that we have put together is all possible because of the Industrial Revolution. To think this is only the start of the industry revolution. We still have many more things to discover, create and to explore. Its just a matter of time that we grow even more than where were were almost 300 years ago.
